As the Passover season approaches, we as members of God's
church, start to reflect on the tremendous sacrifice of our Savior Jesus
Christ. As I reflect, I am continually
amazed at the love of our Lord. Here are
a few simple thoughts on this subject.
Let me start by quoting Rev. 13:8, “And all that dwell
upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of
life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.” In this passage, it tells us before the world
was ever formed that Jesus looked through time and knew we would need an
atonement for our sins. What an awesome
God we serve!
In Gen. 2: 7, the creation of man is recorded. As I think back to that time I feel very
small as I see my Savior kneeling and forming the feet, knowing they would run
to evil and make haste to shed blood (Prov. 1: 16 ). What an awesome God we
As He formed the mouth and tongue, He knew the lies to be
told against Him and the mocking words He would hear. What an awesome God we serve!
As He formed the hands, He knew the terrible beating He
would receive, the crown of thorns they would weave, and the hammer and nails
they would hold to fasten him to that torture stake. What an awesome God we serve!
As He lovingly breathed life into that lump of clay, He
knew it would ultimately cost Him His own.
But He loved us so much that the benefit far outweighed the price He
would pay. What benefit, you say? Extending the family of God is the conclusive
end to His sacrifice. What an awesome God we serve!
There is a verse in a song that says, "He grew the
tree He knew would be used to make the old rugged cross."
Truly we serve an awesome God!
